We never list markets, vendors, or any site we can’t trace to a real owner. No listing is ever paid for.
itsdark.io explains the dark web. It is not a map to the parts of it that cause harm, and we think that makes it more useful, not less.
What this means in practice
- We write about how the dark web works, its history, its law and its risks. We do not link to, name or describe how to reach active markets, vendors or forums.
- The only onion addresses we publish are in the Sonar Index: services run by identifiable organisations such as newsrooms, email providers and the Tor Project, copied from their own websites. Here is how that works.
- Closed criminal cases appear only as news history, sourced from court records and mainstream reporting.
- Comments containing links are held for review and are not published if they break this pledge.
- Some articles contain affiliate links to products we have tested, such as VPNs. They are always disclosed, never decide what we recommend, and never affect the Sonar Index.
If you see anything on this site that breaks this pledge, tell us and we will fix it and log the fix on our corrections page.
